Adrian Durham believes Gareth Bale has been nothing greater than a ‘cheerleader on the bench’ throughout his second spell with Tottenham.
The Welshman sealed an emotional return to north London when becoming a member of on mortgage from Actual Madrid final September, having been frozen out by Zinedine Zidane in Spain.
Nevertheless, Bale has began only one Premier League match as far as Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho elected to play central midfielder Moussa Sissoko forward of him at proper wing in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Fulham.
And Durham took purpose at Mourinho’s determination to play Sissoko out of place, whereas questioning Bale’s position at Spurs.
The talkSPORT host mentioned: “[Jose] has turned them Spursy once more, there’s little question about that.
“It was a shocker from him… The Sissoko factor, I simply don’t get.
“What does it say about Bale? Proper now, he’s a cheerleader on the bench.
“I don’t imply to be disrespectful – that’s precisely the job he’s doing.
“He’s making individuals chuckle on the bench. They want him out on the sector being good if he’s able to it.
“However all we’re seeing now could be the rationale why Actual Madrid didn’t play him as a lot as individuals needed him to be performed.”
Earlier this week, former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy dubbed Bale’s return to Tottenham ‘unusual’.
He mentioned: “It’s wanting like an more and more unusual signing, isn’t it?
“I do know the Spurs followers had been enthusiastic about it and I used to be too, I used to be wanting ahead to seeing what Gareth Bale was going to show up and what we had been going to see from him.
“However we’ve not seen something, have we? We haven’t seen something of him.
“To this point, you’d need to say it’s been a nasty signing.”
